Saudi Eagles at BA102 Dijon-Longvic,  5/6 Oct. 2009

In the early morning of Monday the 5th of October, Mike, Niels and I drove to France, just with one goal: Score some Saudi Eagles at BA102 Dijon-Longvic.

From 5 till 16 October no less than six F-15 Eagles (five C-models and one D-model) from King Fahd Air Base - Taif deployed to BA102 Dijon-Longvic to participate in exercise "Green Shield 2". The first version of this exercise "Green Shield 1" was held in 2007 when a few Mirage 2000s of Dijon deployed to Saudi Arabia to reinforce the cooperation between French and Saudi fighter operations.

During their stay in France the Saudi Eagles flew two mission a day to train together with the local Mirage 2000s as well as some CSAR helicopters from the French Air Force. In the week prior the deployment lots of support aircraft (C-130s and L-100s) were seen at BA102 Dijon-Longvic. The KE-3A tankers that supported the Eagles during their six-hour flight stayed at BA125 Istres-Le Tubé.   (Click here for a full log)
